As a certified home inspector, I have performed home inspections on starter homes through custom nine bathroom homes with elevators. I am also certified for commercial buildings and have inspected residential to commercial conversions (for doctor’s and dentist’s offices and the like) through fifty unit mid-rise apartment buildings and one hundred unit townhouse communities. I have also inspected homes built during each generation of Atlanta including the only home General Sherman gave a direct order not to burn during the Battle of Atlanta in the Civil War.

Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
John Mease Home Inspections has been in operation since 1995.
What is your primary product or service?
Certified Home Inspections.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
John Mease Home Inspections is an independent building property inspection service in the metro Atlanta area. My background includes earning my Engineering degree from The Citadel in 1980. I performed commercial engineering, construction and inspection projects for a Fortune 100 company for fifteen years throughout the Eastern US including notable Atlanta landmarks – Midtown Plaza, the Marriott Marquis Hotel downtown, the Terraces buildings at the Perimeter, the Cumberland Overlook buildings and River Ridge in Sandy Springs.
My hobby has always been houses and when it came time to find a home and a career to settle into, we chose my wife’s hometown of Atlanta and my hobby. I returned to school to certify for Home Inspections and have performed several thousand private home and building inspections since 1995. I am Code certified for new homes, older homes and commercial buildings by the International Code Council, the group that writes the Codes adopted by Georgia. I earned my Indoor Air Quality Investigator certification from the Medical University of South Carolina. The state of Georgia does not license Home Inspectors. We must prove our worth on our own.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
My experience and education separates my abilities from others. I have helped build high-rise buildings in downtown Atlanta and storage sheds in backyards. I hold an Engineering degree, a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, am Code certified for all habitable buildings (private and commercial) in Georgia and am a member of the largest Home Inspector Association in the nation, ASHI. I inspect from downtown Atlanta to Blue Ridge to Oconee to Tallapoosa. If you drive there to buy it, I'll drive there to inspect it. My Home Inspection process is an education, not just a list.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I operate a private inspection service with no plans to expand. To provide the best personal service, I personally perform all tasks.
What type of payments do you accept?
John Mease Home Inspections accepts cash and personal checks. I do not accept credit cards as I do not think a bank or card company deserves any of your or my money (credit processing can cost up to 10% of a home inspection's price).
Which areas do you service?
John Mease Home Inspections performs home and building inspections throughout metro Atlanta and north Georgia.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I operate this company personally.
What are your hours of operation?
John Mease Home Inspections is available daylight hours, Monday through Saturday.
