Atlanta General Contractors and custom home builders offering office and home remodeling
AC Atlanta General Contractors is a division of Affordable Craftsmen which was founded in 2000 by Gary McCormick, a native of Buffalo and now resident of Atlanta since 1993. We are Atlanta general contractors and Atlanta custom home builders that also provide office remodeling, home remodeling, basement remodeling, kitchen remodeling, additions and outdoor projects of all kinds in Atlanta, Marietta, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Roswell, Woodstock, Kennesaw, Smyrna and other suburbs of North Atlanta within 20 miles of Marietta Ga.
Our unique proposition is that a). we provide every residential and light commercial construction service you could need and b). we focus on affordable yet quality service. We do not provide 10 quality work at a 1 price, we provide 9 quality work at a 6 price, 7 quality work at a 4 price, etc. Our focus is to save you hassle by offering all you need and giving you a great value. Many of our customers once they know us give us keys to their house and don't even ask the price as they know if will be fair based on many previous experiences and transactions.
Our lead guys and subs have 15-30 years experience, are legal and speak English. We are e-verify because we work for state, federal and larger corporate customers. No one used to care much about this, but it has become more important to our clients over the past 5-7 years. Once you've used us for a small or medium construction project, we have faith that you'll use us and refer us out regularly!

Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Since 2000
What is your primary product or service?
We are Atlanta general contractors and custom home builders, so we offer a lot of services, both residential and commercial, but what we do mostly lately is home remodeling, home renovations, basement remodeling, kitchen remodeling, water damage restoration, water damage repair, water damage clean-up and office remodeling.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was the VP of a mortgage division and started flipping houses on the side for extra money in the 90's. Every house we worked on to flip, I would get tons of other people in the neighborhood asking me to do jobs for them between 5-20k while I was already there. I got a lot more personal fulfillment from it, so I left the mortgage business and dove in. My next remodeling job was around 100k, a year later I did one for closer to 500k and have since done many remodels and new homes 500k-2m. Meanwhile, we continue to change toilets for $80-100, replace rotted wood, restore our client's decks and many other "home improvement" or "home repair" type items as we are committed to providing everything they need as a home owner, investor or business owner in the way of construction.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Our unique proposition is that not only do we provide every residential and light commercial construction service, but we focus on affordable quality, hence "Affordable Craftsmen". Our guys are all legal as we have to be e-verify for some of our state, federal and larger clients, our lead guys have 15-30 years of experience and they all speak English, which wasn't such a big deal 5-10 years ago but is suddenly important today. Although we do insurance work and water damage restoration, aside from that, we try to focus on working with clients that can schedule ahead for their work and not on emergency response. Our advantage in helping our clients with insurance work, is that unlike most everyone else the insurance company will recommend, we can work with them again and again, wanting to earn them as a long-term referring client and not just a quick insurance check.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Our primary locations are in North Atlanta near Sandy Springs and in Marietta near East Cobb, Roswell, Kennesaw and Woodstock. In addition to those areas we also serve Smyrna, Milton, Johns Creek, Dunwoody, Duluth and other suburbs that are in that area. We are in discussion with other general contractors, custom home builders, home remodeling contractors and handyman services to add to our network via licensing and shared training so in the next year or two, we'll be able to offer our service to our clients, friends and family throughout Georgia and eventually the Southeast.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We don't service clients or meet with them at our locations. We meet our clients at their business, home, job site, lot or a neutral location that's convenient to them.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, check, most major credit cards, paypal and have some in-house and out of house financing options depending on the size of the project and amount of time a client needs to pay. If it's a small project, we sometimes will finance a portion in-house but will look to have it paid the following month or over the following 3 months. If it's a larger project, then we have financing companies and other partners that can offer a number of options depending on the particulars.
Which areas do you service?
We serve Atlanta Ga, Marietta Ga, Alpharetta Ga, Roswell Ga, Woodstock Ga, Kennesaw Ga, Sandy Springs Ga, Smyrna Ga, Acworth Ga, Dunwoody Ga, Vinings Ga, Buckhead Ga, Brookhaven Ga, Milton Ga, Johns Creek Ga, Norcross Ga, Doraville Ga, Chamblee Ga, Duluth Ga, Canton Ga, Cumming Ga, etc.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Gary McCormick is the primary owner, Renee' McCormick if office manager.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday - Friday 7am-7pm
Saturday 9am-1pm
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
My own people and sub-contractors to only want me to build or remodel their own home. When my existing customers call us again and again and/or refer us out to their parents, siblings, kids, pastor, etc. When customers say they will only use us, when they call us extended family, when they give us keys to their house so we can handle emergencies should they be unavailable, when they leave us home alone with their kids. It's hard to say which one means more, as they all mean we've been deemed trustworthy.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
It's hard to pick one Bible verse, there are a lot of tremendous ones and they're full of power. Instead, let me leave my own quote and something we teach on all the time, but I wouldn't espouse it if I didn't think it was from the Bible itself but paraphrased. "Don't let what's good become the enemy of the best" Too many times in life we settle when God wants more for us, for our families, for our businesses, etc. It's not realistic to give a 10 quality for a 1 price, but we can offer a 7 quality for a 4 price, an 8 quality for a 5 price or a 9 quality for a 6 price...that's value. We know everyone can't afford a 9 or 10 quality as it takes longer and time is money, however, our "best" is to offer the best quality we can for the price you can afford and we promise that price will be the same regardless of where you live and what you drive.
